The Italian manufacturing industry has 23,000 companies and 470,000 employees. The mechanical engineering industry generates added value of 48.4 billion euros. In November 2023, the German Chancellor and the Italian Prime Minister signed an action plan in Berlin for increased cooperation between Germany and Italy in the areas of business, energy, space and defense.

Industry 4.0 and 5.0 are drivers of innovation
Companies that have invested in Industry 4.0 perform better. In 2024, the incentives of the PNRR and the Industry 5.0 plan will boost the introduction of new production technologies, the reduction of energy consumption and M&A opportunities.

In particular, in line with the short and medium-term actions envisaged by the REPowerEU plan, Transition 5.0, with a total financial allocation of 6.3 billion euros, aims to promote the transformation of companies’ production processes, responding to the challenges posed by the twin transitions, digital and energy.
